This weekend, Megan and Katie made the trek from Valencia and Maastricht to visit Copenhagen! I was so excited to show them around on Friday. Megan got in Thursday night, so she got to spend the night at my house in Borup and then head to class with me early Friday morning! After my class on Friday morning, we grabbed a delicious brunch at CafÄ— Paludan and then wandered through Christianshavn before meeting up with Katie.
Our sightseeing adventure began in Nyhavn. It is the picture that people think of when they think of Copenhagen, so I knew that it had to be our first stop. While I've been to all of the tourist stops multiple times, this was the first time I've brought my camera along so it was really fun to act like a tourist and take pictures! After Nyhavn, we walked along the canal to see the Opera House and then Amalienborg Palace and Frederiks Kirke which is often called the Marble Church. We were lucky enough to catch the end of the changing of the guard! On our way back to the center of the city, we walked by Rosenborg Castle and then stopped at the American Pie Company for a snack! I got the chocolate and peanut butter pie and it was absolutely delicious.
After our stop at American Pie Company, we decided to wander through all of the Christmas Markets that I've discovered so far. It seems like in every square of free space they've set up a Christmas Market. As someone who loves Christmas, I absolutely love all of the Christmas cheer in this city! I need to stop walking through the markets because I've bought something every time. After the markets, we walked through Tivoli since its all decorated for Christmas with market stalls as well.
For dinner, we headed to Paper Island to meet up with some other Richmond kids. Paper Island is such a unique place, so I love bringing visitors each time they come! I absolutely loved showing Megan and Katie around Copenhagen and am so happy that they were able to come and visit!
Love,
