This week is the first of three travel breaks that I have this semester. To start of the break I decided to head to Lausanne, Switzerland to meet up with friends from school. I leave on Monday to meet up with my parents for a week in Germany, so I was only in Switzerland for less than 48 hours.
Friday night, I got into Geneva at 11pm and met up with my friends so we could take the train along Lake Geneva to Lausanne.
We woke up bright an early Saturday morning even though we had gone to bed late the night before to catch a train to the Lavaux Vineyard Terraces which just so happens to be a UNESCO World Heritage Centre. We weren't really sure what to expect but the vineyards were absolutely beautiful. After weeks of cold and rainy weather in Copenhagen, it was so nice to see some warmth and sunshine.

The vineyards were situated in between the cutest little towns that seem to be stopped in time. The first town we stopped in was called Epessees and was filled with wineries and small hotels. We just wandered through the vineyard terraces just taking in all of the beautiful views of Lake Geneva and the Alps.
Our next stop was the little town of Cully where we walked along the lake and did a little shopping. We got delicious sandwiches from a bakery and then had to stop and buy a box of chocolates! They were absolutely amazing. I bought a box to bring to my parents but ended up eating the whole thing before I left Sunday morning!
After lunch, we hopped on the train and headed back to Lausanne so that we could visit Le Museé Olympique. It was probably one of the coolest museums I've ever been to. We learned all about the history of the Olympics and about the different locations that have hosted the games since 1894 when the Baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee. They had old costumes, uniforms, and even a whole room all of the torches. I have always loved watching the olympics, so it was really cool to learn about they're history and significance.
Sunday morning I was up early to heard back home before turning around Monday morning to head to Stuttgart, Germany! I am so happy that I was able to make this quick trip to Switzerland to explore and new country while getting to catch up with my friends!
Love,
